We’re coming to the end of National Newspaper Week, which this year is Oct. 7-13, and we have to say we’re in a pretty good mood.
It seems many want to dismiss the newspaper as a relic of the past, and something that is going to cease to exist down a not-so-distant road. Yet, many newspapers continue to thrive, and are moving forward with excitement and vigor as they embrace the myriad possibilities the future holds.
Though times certainly have changed, the mission of the Daily Globe has remained the same, as it has for other community-oriented newspapers across this nation. We aim to serve our region’s communities by being the go-to source for what’s happening, whether it be coverage of city and county government, what’s going on inside our schools, what new business is opening in our community, who won the game ... and much, much more. And, besides news, we see our newspaper as a unique vehicle for advertisers to get their message out to their customers.
When it comes to both print and online products, newspapers continue to offer plenty of value in many ways. On the occasion of National Newspaper Week, we’d like to not only thank our readers, but assure them that much more awaits.
