ST. PETER — The Trojan girls’ tennis team sent two singles players and two doubles teams to the Section 2AA girls tennis individual tournament Saturday at Gustavus, but none of them were able to get out of the first round.

No. 12 seed Kirsten Aljets fell to No. 5 seed Julia Hartmann of Marshall 6-1, 6-2. At the 14 seed, Laura Wettering lost to No. 4 Libby Andrego of Mankato East, 6-0, 6-0.

In the doubles division, No. 13 Emily Williamson and Rachel Drietz were beat by Allie Reineke and Brianna Forbrook 6-0, 6-4. Brianna Kempema and Makensie Carstensen were the 14 seed and lost to Andrea Erdman and Justine Scheller 6-2, 6-0.

With the loss, Trojan girls’ tennis officially comes to an end. The team will be losing four seniors this year, including Elizabeth Luke, Kara Honius, Kate Lesnar and Aljets.

However, the Trojans will potentially have six juniors who will step into bigger roles as leaders on the team next year.
