Letter: Obama wants to fix what ails us

So, are we better off than we were four years ago? I’d say we are. We could have been a lot better off it wasn’t for those penny-wise and pound-foolish Republicans that cost taxpayers $1.3 billion in extra borrowing costs, or $4 to each American man, woman and child. Never mind what the no-new-tax boneheads cost us in Minnesota; we’ve had the lowest taxes since Eisenhower was president.
It’s bad enough the working class had to fight the Bush wars. Now, they want us to pay for them, too. The $4 trillion grand bargain between Obama and House Speaker John Boehner was balanced and for the good of the country, but it ran into the Tea Party buzz saw when Boehner couldn’t lead his members to meet the president halfway. The markets were spooked, and we had an invented crisis.
These Republicans are the ones who should be fired. They could care less if we tumbled head-long into a depression. My vote will go to the man who cares most about our nation, Barack Obama — a man who tries to fix problems, not create them.
