PREP VOLLEYBALL: VB section tournament seedings

WORTHINGTON — Finishing the season with a 19-10 record, the Trojan volleyball team received a three seed in the south division of the Section 3AA volleyball tournament and will host St. James Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.

The Trojans defeated St. James earlier this season 2-0 at the St. James tournament.

Worthington ended the regular season Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Canby, who is the No. 2 seed in the north division of the Section 3A volleyball tournament.

Jackson County Central received the No. 1 seed in the south division and will face New Ulm in Jackson on Oct. 26. Windom took the No. 2 seed and will host the seven seed Luverne. Pipestone Area was awarded the fourth seed and hosts Fairmont.

The winners of the four games will go on to play at the higher seed on Oct. 30. The semi finals of the tournament will take place on Nov. 1, at a yet to be determined location at 7 p.m., while the finals will be held at SMSU on Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The Section 3A volleyball seedings were also released, with Southwest Christian taking the top seed in the southern division and receiving a bye in the first round.

No. 2 Westbrook-Walnut Grove, No. 3 Southwestern United and No. 4 Tracy-Milroy-Balaton also received byes in the first round and will not play until the second round on Oct. 26 in Luverne.

SWC will play the winner of eighth seed Adrian and ninth seed Hills-Beaver Creek, while W-WG will play the winner of the seventh seeded Red Rock Central and the 10th seeded Ellsworth.

SWU hosts the winner of the match-up between sixth seed Murray County Central and 11th seed Fulda. The winner of the game between fifth seed Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and 12th seed Edgerton will take on T-M-B.

Quarterfinal matches will take place on Oct. 30, in Luverne and semi final games will be Nov. 1 at SMSU. The finals will be played at SMSU on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.
