Six years ago, Amy Klobuchar was elected to her first term in the U.S. Senate. It hasn’t taken her long to become a respected legislator on both sides of the political aisle, as well as someone widely recognized as a hard-worker who can get things done. She is, almost certainly, the most popular politician in the state.

Klobuchar has been involved in plenty during her time in Washington, and has consistently worked on behalf of all Minnesotans. In the Worthington region, for instance, she has helped bring broadband infrastructure to nearby rural communities; most recently she met with a host of local officials in Worthington to discuss issues pertaining to funding for the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System. She has worked to make sure small, locally owned businesses receive grant funding in order to continue flourishing.

Those are just token examples, mind you. On a statewide level, Klobuchar has been an advocate for Minnesota National Guard veterans, gotten federal funding to replace the I-35W bridge that collapsed, help advance legislation against synthetic drugs, helped address security issues in rural courthouses, served on the Senate Committee on Agriculture, ably served as the state’s only senator during the Al Franken-Norm Coleman recount ... and we could go on further.

Klobuchar’s GOP challenger, Kurt Bills, has been virtually invisible around the state, never mind this region, and is an inexperienced state lawmaker who happens to be a Ron Paul disciple. We much prefer Klobuchar’s way forward.
