Letter: Avenel-Navera would make fine state legislator

We had an outstanding League of Women Voters in Worthington several years ago. We discussed most of the issues in a bipartisan fashion. I feel that it is so important to be an informed voter.

I would like to quote an analysis from The Washington Post. The analysis explained that Mitt Romney’s deficit reduction plans are hard to assess, given his lack of detail — and they would not kick in for several years — but could lead to a larger debt in the next decade than Obama’s agenda would. Analysts cite Romney’s proposals for new tax cuts, an increase in military spending and a delay until 2022 in remaking Medicare. He said many of his tax cuts would be partly negated by his proposals to lower top tax rates on corporations and individuals.

I would also like to recommend Cheryl Avenel-Navara as a very excellent candidate to represent us in District 22B in the state House of Representatives. She, as well as many new candidates, got into the race because of the gridlock and shutdown. She came into the race because of her experience with listening and negotiating solutions. Then she went to work, learning about everything that concerns our are — such as farm policies, waterways and watersheds, and how they affect farms. She is a real go-getter and an independent thinker.

Each of us has just one vote. Please make yours an informed one.
