Letter: Remember the past when voting Tuesday
This election has been billed as one of the most important of our lifetime, yet many of us seem to forget the past.By: Cathy Buxengard, Worthington, Worthington Daily Globe
This election has been billed as one of the most important of our lifetime, yet many of us seem to forget the past.
Do we really want to return control of our government to the very same party and team that got us into two wars and a financial mess? The same party that refuses to compromise or collaborate with the opposite party? The same party that makes pledges to the likes of Grover Nordquist and ALEC instead of to “we the people?” To the same party that is trying to suppress our votes with a voter ID amendment that will cost millions of local dollars to implement?
Check out the website of “ALEC Exposed” and read the model bills written by CEOs that Republicans in our state have ready to pass. Note the one on voter ID that will require not only a photo but an expiration date and address that all have to match. Check out the Secretary of State’s website to find out the possible impacts of a voter ID amendment.
Get the facts before you vote. Our country is moving forward.
