Letter: Both amendments deserve 'no' votes

In response to Kathy Schwartz’s letter published on Oct. 31: A ‘no” vote will not mean that same sex couples will be able to be legally marry.

In response to Kathy Schwartz’s letter published on Oct. 31: A ‘no” vote will not mean that same sex couples will be able to be legally marry. Currently, it is illegal for same sex couples to marry in Minnesota; that will not change if the “Marriage Amendment” does not pass. There appears to be a lot of misinformation on this.

In addition, Photo ID will not prevent voter fraud. The only thing voter ID will prevent is voter impersonation, and in Minnesota history no one has ever been convicted of voter impersonation. Photo ID will not prevent the number one culprit of voter fraud, convicted felons, from voting. A person with a fake ID will still be able to vote. This ammendment will only hinder people that are physically or economically challenged. We need to work on ways to get more people to vote, not less.
