WILLMAR — Motorists will soon be able to use U.S. 59 between Slayton and Valhalla Road as the highway reopens to traffic, Monday.

Crews are wrapping up construction and will finish painting roadway markings on Monday afternoon, weather permitting.

The construction on U.S. 59 began on July 9 and included three projects that were combined to reduce the overall impact on motorists and residents by using a single detour. The overall project included resurfacing six miles of pavement near Slayton, repair of 11 miles of concrete roadway near Garvin and the realignment of the junction of Minnesota 30 and U.S. 59.
