Obituary: Tena Koopman

Tena Gertrude Koopman, 82, was born on July 4, 1930, in Melvin, IA.

Tena Gertrude Koopman, 82, was born on July 4, 1930, in Melvin, IA. She was the daughter of Joe and Gertrude (Van Engen) Baker. Tena married Lyle Don Koopman on January 21, 1950, in Jackson, MN. She worked as a LPN at Fauskee Nursing Home in Worthington. Tena was very active in her church circle, delivering church tapes to shut-ins and enjoyed baking for church members. She was also a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Tena died on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at her residence in Worthington, MN.

Tena is survived by her children, Daniel (Lorrie) Koopman of Brewster, MN, and Rebecca Koopman of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Jessica (Lucas) Hohenstein and their children, Lucas, Noahh, and Lillian of Fulda, MN, Danielle (Lee) Steinbock of Shaker Heights, OH, and Cameron Koopman of New Hope, MN; two brothers, John Baker of Arkansas, and Charles Baker of Bakersfield, CA, and one sister, Martha Brody of Sibley, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle and two brothers, Frank and Joe.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Gordon J. Orde officiating. Burial will be held in the Holman Township Cemetery near Sibley, IA.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
