On Saturday morning, Nov. 3, I woke up at 3:30 a.m. I lay in my warm bed and felt a presence in my room, but I felt no fear. I had watched CNN all weekend, and the terrible disaster created by Hurricane Sandy left me feeling helpless.
I said to this unseen presence, “I cannot help these people; I’m too old!” He answered, “I gave you the gift of writing; use it.” I said, “I’ll wait and think about it.” He said, “My people cannot wait. They have no warm beds, no homes, no cars, no businesses, no food.” I said, “Will you help me?” The presence answered, “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you also do unto me.”
