Obituary: Charles Blackstad

Charles O. Blackstad, age 86, of Lakeville died peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 15. Retired Colonel in the United States Air Force and retired teacher at Normandale Community College. Survived by daughters, Charlotte Miller ( Stephen ), of Burnsville and Nancy Blackstad ( Loreck Seher ), of Toronto, Ontario; son-in-law, Bruce Fenske, of New Ulm; grandchildren, Patrick Miller (Jane ), of Shakopee, Chaz Miller ( Lynn ), of Plymouth, Eric Fenske, of Chicago, and Sara Fenske, of Mpls; great-grandchildren, ZK Miller, Caleb Miller and Jiana Wright Miller, all of Plymouth; sister, Vera Duzan, of Pine City; brothers, Jim Blackstad ( Joan ), of New Ulm and Ed Blackstad ( Cathy ), of Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death by first wife, Bernadine Blackstad and second wife, Ruth Dittes Blackstad, daughter, Barb Fenske and his parents, Peter and Nellie Blackstad.

Funeral service Wednesday, November 21, at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church of Apple Valley, 7800 County Rd. 42, Apple Valley. Interment at Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel, 6527 Portland Avenue S, Richfield, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
