ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa – The Central Lyon girls basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Rock Valley 73-35 in the season-opening game for both teams Tuesday.

Eleven of 12 Lions scored in the contest with Lexi Ackerman leading the way with 17 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals.

Kelsey Ackerman (three steals) and Sarah Halse (nine rebounds) each totaled 10 points, while Kori Schulte had three steals for CL (1-0).

The Lions, who are ranked No. 5 in the preseason Iowa Class 1A girls basketball rankings, host MOC-Floyd Valley on Tuesday. MOC-FV is ranked No.2 in the Class 3A polls.
