PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Jackson County Central tops Sleepy Eye St. Mary's

SLEEPY EYE — Rachel Johnson dropped 17 points for the Jackson County Central Huskies in a 70-62 win over Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Friday at the Sleepy Eye Invitational.

SLEEPY EYE — Rachel Johnson dropped 17 points for the Jackson County Central Huskies in a 70-62 win over Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Friday at the Sleepy Eye Invitational.

The Huskies led by just one point at halftime, but they were able to score 38, while holding Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s to just 31 points to take the win.

JCC had two other players in double-digits with Marita Rasche and Lydia Brandt both putting up 15 points. Rasche also had five rebounds and six steals to go along with a team-high 17 rebounds by Brandt.

Johnson picked up five re-bounds and four steals, while Angela Handsuz had eight steals and five assists.

Maddy Helget led Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s with 19 points in the game.

The Huskies (1-0) play Sleepy Eye today in Sleepy Eye.
