MANKATO — Ryan Clark’s second goal was the game-winner as Windom Area outlasted Mankato East/Loyola 4-3 in overtime Saturday.

Clark scored with 7 minutes, 56 seconds left in the extra session on passes from Travis Janssen and Zach Bartosh, helping the Eagles improve to 2-0-0 this season.

Trailing 1-0 through two periods, Windom Area netted three goals in the third. Janssen tied the game at 1 just 15 seconds into the third period before Clark struck for his first goal at the 15:18 mark.

It remained a 2-1 edge for the Eagles until a goal from the Cougars’ Nick Yess knotted the contest at the 8:11 mark. But Janssen scored his second goal of the game 24 seconds later to put Windom Area in front 3-2.

Shane Sellner’s goal with 29 seconds left in regulation allowed Mankato East/Loyola to force overtime.

The Eagles’ Tyler McGowan was the winning goalie, making 19 stops on 22 stots. The Cougars’ Aaron Kroeber came up with 27 stops on 31 shots in the loss.
