WORTHINGTON — A four-goal, second period outburst powered Worthington to a 5-4 Bantam hockey victory against Fairmont on Sunday.
The Trojans scored a first-period tally, but were tied at 1 heading to the second. After scoring four times in the second period, Worthington took a 5-2 lead before the Cardinals had the final two tallies.
Tony Lopez scored two goals for Worthington, which also received goals from Alan Olhausen, Andrew Olsen and William Sudbrink.
Gage Langerud made 33 saves on 37 shots to preserve the Trojans’ win.
Worthington travels to play St. Cloud at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16.

MARSHALL — Worthington split a pair of Squirt games from Marshall on Saturday and Sunday at Lyon County Arena.
Jack Black had two goals and Kip Jesen added another as the Trojans dropped a two-goal decision to Marshall on Sunday. Zach Arenstroff assisted Jesen’s tally.
Worthington made 33 saves on 38 shots.
Colby Nickel recorded a shutout, backing the Trojans to a win over Marshall on Saturday. He made five saves.
Arenstorff had a goal and an assist for Worthington, while other goals came from Traeton Holt, Logan Kluever and Dallas Sontag.
The Trojans play at New Ulm/Sleepy Eye at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Sleepy Eye Arena.
PEE WEE
Fairmont 5, Worthington 3
FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinals defeated the Worthington Trojans in a Pee Wee B game Saturday at Martin County Ice Arena.
Worthington (5-3 overall, 3-2 District 4) lost despite outshooting Fairmont 33-21. Cardinals goalie Colby Kuhl posted the victory by making 30 saves.
Fairmont built a 2-0 lead through one period until Worthington’s Ryan Newman scored in the second period on a pass from Davis Moore.
Trailing 2-1 entering the third period, the Trojans were able to force a 3-all tie on goals from Moore and Eric Heidebrink.
Fairmont sealed the win with two tallies late in the third period.
Worthington goalies Carter Ponto and Sam Fellows combined to make 16 saves.
The Trojans host Marshall at 12 p.m. Saturday.
