Obituary: Barbara Hansen

Barbara “Bobbie Ann” A. Hansen, 86, of Worthington, died Sunday evening, December 9, 2012, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Born July 1, 1926, Barbara was adopted by Elden and Ann (Odagaard) Rowe. She was raised in Worthington until moving to St. Paul and graduating from Wilson High School. After high school, she attended Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, MN. The family returned to Worthington in 1946. Bobbie Ann married Robert E. Hansen on May 25, 1947, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death in 2010. She was his faithful partner in farming.

Bobbie Ann is survived by nieces, Jeannine Ruschmeier (David) of Plato, MN and Linda Hoaglund of St. Paul, MN, and nephew, Greg Hansen of Salem, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, and sister, Sonnie Shore.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Larry Ruesch officiating. Casket bearers will be Wayne Freese, Dan Bogie, Larry Henning, Lenny Ruesch, Dan Greve and Richard Greve. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sioux Falls Humane Society.
