Holiday Lighting Contest winners announced

WORTHINGTON — The Rick Grimmius home, 648 James Blvd., took first place in the annual Holiday Lighting Contest sponsored by the Community Improvement Committee of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and Worthington Public Utilities.

WORTHINGTON — The Rick Grimmius home, 648 James Blvd., took first place in the annual Holiday Lighting Contest sponsored by the Community Improvement Committee of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and Worthington Public Utilities.

Second place in the contest was the Mark Their home, 1016 W. Lake Ave., and third place went to the David Nerem home, 1155 Schaap Drive.

Grimmius receives a $100 credit on December utility bill and $100 in Chamber Checks. Thier earns $75 in Chamber Checks and utility bill credit; Nerem earns $50 in each.

The homes were judged on best use of color, most original, best composition, most spectacular and best expression of Christmas. First-, second- and third-place winners were chosen.

Honorable mentions were given to 713 Omaha Ave., 1118 Grand Ave., 727 Moon Circle, 1360 Briarwood, 1512 Third Ave., 849 Turner, 1704 Skyline Drive, 1720 Rust Road, 827 Fifth Ave., 603 Ninth Ave., 1917 Eleanor, 210 W. Clary St. and 1944 Cecilee.

Businesses were also eligible, and the same criteria were used. The winner will receive $100 off 2013 Chamber member dues and $100 credit on the December utility bill. Mick’s Repair, 1311 Fourth Ave., was named the winner, with honorable mentions going to South Shore Care Center, 1307 South Shore Drive, and Golden Horizons, 1790 College Way.
