PREP WRESTLING: Adrian wins duals over Pipestone, Benson, Montevideo

PIPESTONE — The Adrian Dragons won all three of their duals against Montevideo, Benson and the Pipestone Arrows Saturday by large margins.

PIPESTONE — The Adrian Dragons won all three of their duals against Montevideo, Benson and the Pipestone Arrows Saturday by large margins.

Adrian took its first match 62-6 over Montevideo. The Dragons Skylar Hieronimus won his match at 106 over Montevideo’s Christen Kanten by pin in 46 seconds, while Logan Nelson won at 120 pounds (2 minutes, 29 seconds), Jaydan Bullerman won at 126 (3:13), Tony Lynn won at 132 (technical fall, 5:46) and Gavin VanDyke (:30) also won by pin in the 182-pound weight class.

Ben Mulder, Hunter Heitkamp and Logan Rogers all won by decision for the Dragons.

Adrian’s Greg Kern, Carter VanDyke, Sid Kounlabout and Quinn Cleveland won their matches by forfeit.

Against Benson, the Dragons won 56-10, with seven pins in the match.

Alex Fuerstenberg pin Benson’s Jarid Wersinger in 3 minutes, 41 seconds to win his the 106-pound bout. The other pins came from Ryan Elias at the 113-pound class (technical fall, 5:58), Bullerman at 126 (:40), Mulder at 145 (5:30, Carter VanDyke at 170 (4:09), Andy McCain at 195 (:53) and Tony Sieve at 220 (:39).

Winning by decision for Adrian was Tony Lynn at 132 pounds, Ben Taracena at 182 pounds and Adam Garms at 285.

The Dragons took their last match over the Arrows by a score of 47-15 using four pins to take the win.

Heironimus took down Pipestone’s Garret Plaeger in 1 minute, 42 seconds in the 106-pound class, while Bullerman (126-pounds) pinned Jake Haubirch in 2:26 for Adrian’s second pin.

Taracena won his match in 3:58 over the Arrows Cole Staples (182-pounds) and Garms pinned Jared Nygaard (285-pounds) in 2:40 in the Dragons’ fourth pin of the dual.

Adrian’s 113-pound wrestler Elias took a decision over Michael Suda (7-6), while Pipestone’s Jacoby Hunt (120-pounds) won his match 13-3 in a decision over Nelson. Nate Loosbrock defeated Alex Ossefoort (138-pounds) by decision 4-3 to go along with a 14-5 decision by Mulder over the Arrows Walker Kor (145-pounds).

The Arrows took their second dual when Brady Bos won by decision (10-4) over the Dragons Heitkamp at 152. Adrian’s Rogers defeated Pipestone’s Allan Hachmann (160-pounds) by a 12-9 decision, while the Arrows Will Smith took down Justin Elias for the Dragons in a 12-2 decision at 170-pounds.

Adrian’s McCain won his dual by a 12-2 margin in the decision over Jared Hillard of Pipestone at the 195-pound weight class. Blake Walters rounded out the scoring for the Arrows with a 10-0 decision over the Dragons Sieve at 220-pounds.

Adrian heads to the West Fargo tournament Thursday, while Pipestone takes on the Worthington Trojans next Friday in Worthington.
