HOLIDAY CLASSIC JV BASKETBALL: Mankato West defeats Worthington 63-59 to claim JV championship at DG Classic

WORTHINGTON — Mankato West edged Worthington 63-59 to win the junior varsity championship of the Daily Globe Trojan Holiday Classic.

After both teams battled to a 28-all haftime tie, the Scarlets outscored the Trojans 35-31 in the second half.

Alex Goettl led Mankato West with 14 points, while Kevin Marzoff contributed 13 more.

Will Mulder and Brandon Gray each scored 14 points to lead Worthington. Jake Woll chipped in eight more.

Third Place

Christian Weis drained four 3-pointers en route to scoring 20 points as Perham defeated Sibley East in the third place game.

The Yellowjackets took a 32-18 lead at halftime before coasting to the victory.

Andrew Johnson added 10 points for Perham.

Andrew Bullert and Jordan Petzel each scored eight points to lead Sibley East.
