SLAYTON — Campers at Shetek Lutheran Ministries (www.shetek.org) have donated more than $12,000 to Christian organizations in recent years, including more than $2,000 given to Camp Love’s Embrace last summer. The camp is an annual overnight children’s grief camp for children ages 7-14 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, best friend or other person of significance in their lives.
The first Camp Love’s Embrace was conducted in May 2003 at the Lakota Retreat Center on Lake Shetek near Slayton. Now an annual event, the camp is free to any child who attends thanks to contributions from individuals, churches, businesses and corporations.
The 10th annual camp will be May 18-19 at the Lakota Retreat Center at Shetek Lutheran Ministries. For more information, visit www.camplovesembrace.com.
