District 518 board organizes for 2013

WORTHINGTON — The seven District 518 Board of Education directors met briefly in a special session Friday to organize their ranks for the 2013 calendar year.
Linden Olson, who was re-elected to another three-year board term last November, was elected chairperson; Mark Shepherd, whose board term expires Dec. 31, 2014, was elected vice-chair.
Lori Dudley was returned as the board’s clerk, while Steve Schnieder was chosen as board treasurer.
District 518 Director of Management Services David Skog was selected the designated Food Service Authority. Skog also joins administrative assistant Lisa Ahrenstorff as Deputy Clerk, and district accountant Pat Morphew as Deputy Treasurer.
Major committee assignments were made as follows: Dudley, Schnieder and Joel Lorenz, Instructional; Dudley and Olson, Curriculum and Instruction; Shepherd, Brad Shaffer and Scott Rosenberg, Operations; Shepherd, Shaffer and Rosenberg, Classified Negotiations; Dudley, Schnieder and Lorenz, Licensed Negotiations; Dudley, Lorenz and Rosenberg, Compensation; Dudley, Lorenz and Schnieder, Meet and Confer; and Shaffer and Rosenberg, Communications.
Mileage reimbursement for board members was set at the 2013 IRS rate-per-mile, while annual board compensation was fixed as follows: chairperson, $3,050; vice chair, $2,650; clerk, $2,850; treasurer, $2,850; and director, $2,550.
Other meeting business included assigning board representatives to various District 518 committees.
All seven District 518 board members were present at the special meeting, and all votes were unanimous.
The next regular meeting of the District 518 board is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Worthington High School Media Center.
