MARSHALL — Windom Area Eagles goalie Ben Stubbe made 35 saves on 37 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Marshall Tigers in a Southwest Conference boys hockey game Tuesday.
The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period on a goal by Mitchell Macek on Marshall goalie Mason Campion. But the Tigers tied the game just 5 minutes later on a goal by Andrew Bell from Corey Clark.
The score remained the same through the second period, with Marshall outshooting Windom Area 13-7 in the middle frame.
The Tigers’ Quinn Horvath broke the tie 9 minutes, 28 seconds into the third period on a power-play goal assisted by Beau Mikel.
Windom Area took five penalties in the game, while Marshall took only one. The Tigers went 1-5 on the power-play with their one conversion being the game winner by Horvath.
The Eagles took 21 total shots in the game compared to 37 taken by the Tigers.
Windom Area (8-6, 4-3) hosts St. Peter Saturday.
