PREP WRESTLING: Windom/Mountain Lake takes down Marshall

WINDOM — The Windom/Mountain Lake Cobras wrestling team won nine of 14 weight classes en route to a 44-27 dual win in the Southwest Conference over the Marshall Tigers on Friday.

WINDOM — The Windom/Mountain Lake Cobras wrestling team won nine of 14 weight classes en route to a 44-27 dual win in the Southwest Conference over the Marshall Tigers on Friday.

Hunter Quiring (106 pounds) and Joe Fischenich (120) each recorded pins early, while Wyatt Stevens earned a 5-0 decision at 113 to help the Cobras out to a 15-0 lead.

Jared Willaby (132) earned a 7-5 decision and Jacob Suess (138) won a 10-2 major decision following a Chris Boyd pin of Matt Facile at 126 that put Marshall on the board.

Ramzi Gregoire scored the Tigers’ second win with a fall of Danny Kneeland at 145, but the Eagles rattled off the next four matches as Ben Matter (152) and Jake Junker (170) each recorded falls, Andrew Larson (160) won by forfeit and Vince Johnson (182) won by major decision.

The Tigers won the final three matches as Jared Holland (195) pinned Demar Rodney, Justin Varpness (220) won a 5-0 decision over Aaron Flatgard and Austin Nath pinned Neil Litfin at heavyweight.
