The Pacesetter Region 3 Playoffs for the Minnesota Youth Basketball State Championship for grades 5-9 will be held Saturday through Sunday, April 6-7, at Redwood Area Community Center in Redwood Falls. Each grade division is limited to 16 teams.
The ten champions from Region 3 will advance to the Minnesota Youth Basketball State Championship in St. Cloud in June, where they will play in an eight-region bracket against the champions from throughout Minnesota.
The top two teams from Minnesota advance to the Pacesetter Great Four-State Championships at the Target Center in Minneapolis, where they will play against the top two teams from Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota for the over-all four-state title.
More than 800 teams played in the four-state Pacesetter playoffs in 2012. Registration information is available at www.pacesetternet.com.
YMCA to begin Zumbatomic classes
WORTHINGTON — The YMCA is bringing Zumbatomic to the Worthington Wednesday’s from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. in the Worthington Area YMCA multi-purpose room.
Zumbatomic is a high-energy fitness class designed exclusively for kids with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines put to popular music. Parents are welcome to attend the classes.
The classes are for boys and girls from four to 12-year-olds. YMCA members get into the class for free, but non-members can attend for a small fee.
Winter sports to begin in February
WORTHINGTON — The Worthington YMCA will be offering youth basketball, kindergarten basketball along with Itty Bitty sports.
The programs are designed to teach kids the basic fundamentals of the sport, with Itty Bitty sports and Kindergarten basketball will work on teaching kids basic age appropriate skills.
Youth basketball will be split up into teams and participate in games on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings with practices held on Thursdays after school. Games and practices begin the week of Feb. 25, with practices being held Thursdays between 3:30 and 5 p.m.
Kindergarten basketball meets Fridays after school from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and will run from Feb. 15 to March 15.
Itty Bitty sports and swim will be every Friday morning starting Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or Saturday mornings starting Feb. 23 at the same time.
The registration deadline for Kindergarten basketball is Feb. 10, while Itty Bitty sports and youth basketball registration deadlines are Feb. 18. Forms are available at the Worthington YMCA and at ymcsworthington.org.
