PREP WRESTLING: Pipestone Area, Marshall win duals

PIPESTONE — The Pipestone Area Arrows hosted a Southwest Conference wrestling triangular with the Luverne Cardinals and Marshall Tigers on Thursday. The Arrows defeated the Tigers, 49-27, while the Tigers edged the Cardinals, 36-35. Results of the Luverne/Pipestone Area dual were not available at press time.

PIPESTONE — The Pipestone Area Arrows hosted a Southwest Conference wrestling triangular with the Luverne Cardinals and Marshall Tigers on Thursday.

The Arrows defeated the Tigers, 49-27, while the Tigers edged the Cardinals, 36-35. Results of the Luverne/Pipestone Area dual were not available at press time.

Garrett Ploeger (106 pounds) and Michael Suda (113) opened the Arrows’ dual against Marshall with each earning pins.

Following Tigers’ pins at 120 and 126, Pipestone Area rattled off seven consecutive wins before Marshall claimed the final three weight classes.

In the Arrows’ run, Cole Nordmeyer (132), Brady Bos (152) and Will Smith (170) each recorded pins, while Allan Hachmann (160) and Cole Staples (182) each won by forfeit. Alex Ossefoort added a decision win at 138, while Walker Kor won by major decision at 145.

In the Luverne/Marshall dual, the two teams battled back-and-forth with the Cardinals taking a 35-24 lead following Ethan Johnson (182) and Wyatt Aubert (195) pins before the final two bouts.

However, the Tigers won both matches (220 and heavyweight) by fall to claim the one-point win.

Other Cardinals’ wins included a Will Natte major decision at 113, Solomon Nielsen’s pinfall at 132, Eli Dooyema’s decision win at 145 and a Zack Gillette major decision at 152.

Pipestone Area wrestles in a tournament in Fairmont on Saturday.

Wabasso/RRC 40,

Minneota 21

WABASSO — The Wabasso/Red Rock Central Bobcats defeated Minneota in a triangular Thursday.

Benson was also a participant in the meet. Scores for W/RRC versus Benson and Benson/Minneota were unavailable at press time.

Against Minneota, the Bobcats won 9 of 14 classes, including seven of the final eight.

Mitchell Schroepfer (152), Blake Altermatt (160) and Jordan Schroepfer each won their bouts via pinfall. Alex Schroepfer (285) won by forfeit, while Spencer Jenniges (113), Derek Christians (126), Brady Bierl (170) and Brian Hagberg (220) each won by decision. Tanner Rohlik also scored a victory by winning with a major decision at 145.
