MARSHALL — Dylan Kor delievered a 3-point play with 20 seconds left as Class 1A, No. 5-ranked Russell-Tyler-Ruthton escaped with a non-conference boys basketball victory against Fulda 77-74 on Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State University.
The Knights built an 18-2 lead in the first half before the Raiders rallied with a 13-2 run to trim R-T-R’s edge to 20-15. Russell-Tyler-Ruthton was ahead 40-33 at halftime.
Fulda, which made a school-record 16 baskets from 3-point land, received seven 3’s from Andy Oakland, who finished with 29 points, six rebounds and four assists. He hit five 3’s in the first half.
The Raiders made 48 percent of their 3-point shots (16 of 33).
Fulda trailed by 11 points in the second half until Josh Ramerth (11 points) drained three 3-point shots in a span of four Raiders’ possessions. With 7 minutes left, Fulda had erased its deficit in favor of a five-point lead.
The game went back-and-forth the rest of the way as the Raiders outscored the Knights 41-37 in the second half.
“It was the best game we have played this season,” Fulda head coach Colby Pack said. “Our guys realized that they could play with a state-ranked team.”
Todd Peterson added 15 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Raiders (6-13).
Kor scored 26 points to lead the Knights (19-1). Brett Peterson added 20 points for Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.
Fulda hosts Murray County Central at 7:30 p.m. today.

Red Rock Central 56, Lakeview 46
MARSHALL — Red Rock Central’s Henry Rogotzke had 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Falcons defeated Lakeview in a non-conference game Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State University.
Jeff DeCock led all scorers with 22 points, helping Red Rock Central improved to 11-7 overall.
The Falcons created a 30-23 halftime lead before outscoring the Lakers 26-23 in the second half.
Jonah Dovre led Lakeview (9-13) with 13 points, while Derek Larson contributed 11 more.
Red Rock Central returns to the court in a Red Rock Conference game at Southwestern United at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jackson Co. Central 65, St. James Area 46
JACKSON — Defense carried Jackson County Central to a non-conference win over St. James Area on Saturday.
The Huskies (11-7) limited the Saints to 46 points. St. James Area (1-17) has scored 60 points or more in 12 of its games this season.
“We played solid defense and rebounded well from the start and that was the key for us,” JCC head coach Trent Sukalski said. “St. James is a scary team, despite its record, because of its ability to score. They took St. Peter to overtime (in an 89-81 loss Jan. 11).”
Darnell Taylor-Breck led the Huskies with 23 points and added five reounds. Taylor Christopher chipped in 14 points and six assists, while Jon Harmening finished with a double-double (14 rebounds, 10 points).
Jackson County Central plays a Southwest Conference game at Pipestone Area at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Southwest Christian 63, Sisseton 37
BRANDON, S.D. — Class 1A, No. 3-ranked Southwest Christian clamped down on defense during a win over Sisseton during the Sanford Pentagon Classic on Saturday at Brandon Valley High School.
The Eagles (16-1) limited the Redmen (7-6) to 12 first-half points while building a 22-point lead at intermission.
Nate Pfeifle (five steals) and Klint Knutson (five assists) had 16 points apiece to lead Southwest Christian. Leighton Sampson chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds.
Jordan Cornelius and Wyatt Youngblood topped Sisseton with eight points apiece.
The Eagles play a Red Rock Conference game at Fulda at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

PIPESTONE — Luke Becker scored 21 points to lead Fairmont to a non-conference victory over Pipestone Area on Saturday.
The Arrows, who are 5-12 this season, play a Southwest Conference game at Class 3A, No. 7-ranked Marshall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
