WORTHINGTON — Deputy Assessor David Voehl was recognized by Nobles County Commissioners at the beginning of Tuesday morning’s board meeting with an Excellence in Performance award.
The award is part of a new program in county government to identify, thank and acknowledge county employees for going “above and beyond” in their job.
Voehl was nominated by County Assessor Joe Udermann, and was selected by the county’s management team as the first recipient of the award.
In recommending Voehl for the award, the management team said Voehl stepped up to serve the department while the county searched for a new county assessor, then helped Udermann transition into his new role by taking him throughout the entire county.
“He is working with and training all the local assessors while we move forward with our online systems,” Udermann explained. “He is a great asset to our department and the county.”
In accepting the honor, Voehl said that when he began working in Nobles County and attending training classes, people from other counties told him it was the “worst county in the state.”
“As the years went on, I found out it was probably the best county in the state,” Voehl said. “I hope people start saying, ‘Oh, you’re lucky, you get to work in Nobles County.’
“The people are wonderful to work with, I have a great, great staff and wonderful bosses and I hope to continue to work with this county in the future,” he added.
