REDWOOD FALLS — The Worthington Trojans wrestling team won its fifth-straight dual and improved to 8-10 overall with a 46-24 Southwest Conference win over Redwood Valley Tuesday night.
The Trojans earned five wins via fall with Anthony Luft (120 pounds), Zach Bruns (132), Zach Kempema (160), Virgil Cerda (170) and Blake Schroeder (182) each collecting pins.
Other Worthington wins included a Hser Eh Pwae major decision at 106, a King Saenz decision at 145, a Carson Hagen forfeit win at 195 and a Peter Abraham decision at heavyweight.
“We’re starting to come together and wrestle well at the end of the season,” Trojans head coach Mark Prunty said. “We are doing a much better job of doing damage control and not giving up big points, which keeps us in duals — things that we struggled with early on.”
Worthington opens up the section team tournament on Tuesday Feb. 12. Seeding for Section 3AA will be released today.
