ST. PAUL — David Benson of Bigelow was recently appointed to a three-year term serving on the University of Minnesota Extension Citizens’ Advisory Committee.
Benson was a Nobles County commissioner for 20 years, serving on local and regional Extension committees. He was a member of the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) Extension Committee and received the AMC President’s Award in 2012. Benson was recognized by the Minnesota Department of Health’s State Community Health Services Advisory Committee as a Friend of Public Health in 2010.
Benson and his spouse have managed a beef cattle and sheep operation for more than 20 years. For the past 14 years, they produced food-grade soybeans and small grains.
The Citizens’ Advisory Committee provides feedback and perspective to Extension administration. Established in 1976, the committee is comprised of Minnesota citizens from across the state. New members are selected from Extension regions and serve either two- or three-year terms.
