SIBLEY — Sibley-Ocheyedan defeated Clay Central-Everly 63-31 in the first round of the IHSAA Class 1A Boys Basketball District Tournament on Monday.
The Generals built a 12-7 lead after 8 minutes and maintained their advantage after every quarter.
Devin Vander Veen scored 16 points to lead Sibley-Ocheyedan, while Joe Storbakken added 14 more. Dalton Fick chipped in 12 points as the Generals improved to 2-20 overall.
Chaz Brown scored 14 points to lead Clay Central-Everly, which completed its season 0-20.
Sibley-Ocheyedan advanced to the quarterfinal round, where it will travel to play Harris-Lake Park (19-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Westbrook-WG 57, Madelia 41
MADELIA — Alex Knutson scored 14 points and eight rebounds as Westbrook-Walnut Grove defeated Madelia during the Valley Conference Showcase on Monday.
Andrew Merrick added 10 points and five steals for the Chargers (7-12 overall), who play a Red Rock Conference game at Fulda at 7:30 p.m. today.

HILLS —A boys basketball game between Minneota and Edgerton, which was to be played Monday, was canceled.

GIRLS
Luverne 53, Adrian 35
LUVERNE — A big second half helped Luverne post a non-conference win over Adrian on Monday.
The Cardinals, who led 24-17 at halftime, outscored the Dragons 29-18 during the final 18 minutes.
Kaitlin Wohnoutka scored 16 points and Tara Sudenga had 16 points and seven rebounds as the Cardinals improved to 14-10 overall. McKayla Schilling pulled down eight rebounds, scored seven points and created six assists.
“Our halfcourt man-to-man defense was very strong,” Luverne head coach Corey Nelson said. “We shut down Adrian by boxing out and rebeounding well.”
Courtney Vaske led Adrian (15-6) with 14 points. Jordan Kopplow and Brooke Wenzel each added six points.
Luverne hosts Windom Area and Adrian hosts Murray County Central both on Thursday.

Southwest Christian 70, Ellsworth 57
ELLSWORTH — Southwest Christian built a 38-21 halftime lead before coasting to a Red Rock Conference win against Ellsworth on Monday.
The Eagles (18-4, 14-0) received 22 points from Amber Pater and 10 more from Jennifer Schmidt.
Amber Walkowiak led all scorers with 23 points for the Panthers (10-11, 6-7). Alexa Huisman chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds, while Bridgett Kramer collected seven rebounds and produced seven assists.
Southwest Christian hosts Mountain Lake Area on Friday. Ellsworth hosts Adrian on Saturday.

Mountain Lake Area 58, Southwestern United 48
MOUNTAIN LAKE — A double-double from Janessa Peters helped Mountain Lake Area defeat Southwestern United in a Red Rock Conference game Monday.
Peters scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Wolverines improved to 11-10 overall and 6-7 in league play. Rachel Dukes added 14 points for MLA.
Kailey Wendland and Courtney Place each scored 18 points to lead the Wildcats (6-15, 5-9).
Mountain Lake Area hosts Fulda and Southwestern United hosts Red Rock Central both on Thursday.
