PREP WRESTLING: JCC dominates Blooming Prairie

JACKSON — Six Jackson County Central wrestlers pinned their opponents in under a minute on the way to a 69-9 win for the Huskies over the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms Thursday.

JACKSON — Six Jackson County Central wrestlers pinned their opponents in under a minute on the way to a 69-9 win for the Huskies over the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms Thursday.

Cameron Henning (126 pounds) was the quickest to take down his opponent, Blooming Prairie’s Albert Zamarripa, with a time of 16 seconds to get the pin. Kyle Edlin (113), Jordan Biehn (120), Eliot Jurries (132), Dylan Riggle (138) and Luke Norland (152) all won their matches by pin in around 40 seconds.

Dalton Wagner (106) picked up JCC’s first points of the night when he pinned Blooming Prairie’s Ethan Arett in 2 minutes, 50 seconds to give the Huskies a 6-0 lead.

Paden Moore (145) was the final Huskies to pick up a pin, when he took down the Blossoms’ Kyle Williamson in 1:37 to give JCC a 42-0 edge.

Darick Vancura (170), Keegan Moore (160) and Nate Guggisberg (195) received wins by forfeit, while Tanner Menke won a 6-3 decision over Blooming Prairie’s Zach Nirk.

The Huskies dropped the their last two weight classes to the Blossoms, with Blake Arett (220) pinning John Marker and Jarrod Grunklee taking a 6-0 decision over Nate Horn.

The No. 1 ranked Jackson County Central Huskies (19-2) move on to the semifinals to face No. 4 New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva in New Richland Saturday.

LAKE CRYSTAL —Wyatt Stevens led the way for the Windom/Mountain Lake Cobras in a victory over Norwood-Young America Thursday.

Stevens (106 pounds) pinned Norwood-Young America’s Brett Kleinal in 1 minute, 52 seconds to give the Cobras an early 6-0 lead. Joe Fischenich (113) followed Stevens’ lead and took down Zeke Dodge by technical fall to increase the lead to 11.

Jared Willaby (126), Ben Matter (152), Jake Junker (182) and Vince Johnson (195) also won their matches by pin.

Windom/Mountain Lake’s Andrew Larson (160) defeated Alex Meeker by a 3-0 decision, while Gavin Mutz (170) took his match over Norwood-Young America’s Cody Wigfield on an 8-6 decision.

Norwood-Young America picked up points in the 120, 132, 138, 145, 220 and 285 pound weight classes to get its 27 points.

The No. 4 Cobras (9-10) wrestles again Saturday against the winner of the dual between No. 9 St. Agnes/No. 8 River Valley and No. 1 Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial.
