BOYS WRESTLING: JCC has chance to defend state dual team title

NEW RICHLAND — The Jackson County Central Huskies have the opportunity to defend their Class A dual team wrestling state championship.
The top-ranked team in Class A, JCC became the Dual Team Wrestling Section 2 Tournament champion after defeating New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 48-18 in the semifinals and United South Central 49-19 for the title Saturday.
The Huskies dominated both duals by winning 10 matches against New Richland and nine bouts versus United South Central.
Against New Richland, Dalton Wagner, Kyle Edlin, Jordan Biehn, Cameron Henning, Eliot Jurries, Paden Moore, Luke Norland, Keegan Moore, Darick Vancura and Tanner Menke all posts wins for JCC.
Against United South Central, Huskie victories came from Edlin, Henning, Jurries, Paden Moore, Norland, Keegan Moore, Vancura, Menke and Nate Horn.
Jackson County Central (21-2 overall) advanced to the quarterfinals of the MSHSL Class A Dual Team Wrestling State Tournament, which will take place at 11 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
In 2012, the Huskies defeated Kimball Area 35-28 to win the Class A Dual Team Wrestling State Tournament championship.

Section 3 Tournament
BENSON — Fifth-ranked Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg upset fourth-ranked Wabasso/Red Rock Central 30-26 for the Class A Dual Team Wrestling Section 3 Tournament championship Saturday.
The Fighting Saints (16-2) advanced to the quarterfinals of the MSHSL Class A Dual Team Wrestling State Tournament, which will take place at 11 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Bobcats (27-1) were ousted from postseason action with their only loss this season.
Wabasso/Red Rock Central split 14 bouts in its dual against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
Mitchell Fulton, Spencer Jenniges, T.J. Fulton, Tanner Rohlik, Mitchell Schroepfer, Jordan Schroepfer and Alex Schroepfer recorded wins for the Bobcats during the title dual.
Wabasso/Red Rock Central routed Pipestone Area 56-10 during the semifinal round, winning 12 of 14 bouts.
The Bobcats earned wins from Mitchell Fulton, Jenniges, Josh Altermatt, Derek Christians, T.J. Fulton, Rohlik, Dominic Ourada, Mitchell Schroepfer, Blake Altermatt, Brady Bierl, Jordan Schroepfer and Alex Schroepfer.

Section 4 Tournament
NORWOOD — Windom/Mountain Lake upset sixth-ranked and No. 1-seeded Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 33-22 in the semifinals before falling to unranked Sibley East 38-23 in the title dual of the Class A Section 4 Tournament on Saturday.
Against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial (18-4), the Cobras preserved wins with Wyatt Stevens, Fischenich, Willaby, Clay Hockel, Matter, Larson, Jake Junker, Aaron Flatgard and Johnson.
Windom/Mountain Lake finished its season at 10-11 overall.
Against Sibley East, the Cobras, received wins from six wrestlers — Joe Fischenich, Jared Willaby, Ben Matter, Andrew Larson, Vince Johnson and Neil Liftin.
The Wolverines (22-8) advanced to the quarterfinals of the MSHSL Class A Dual Team Wrestling State Tournament, which will take place at 11 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
