EDGERTON — The Edgerton Fire Department received a 911 call at about 4 a.m. Sunday for a fire on Main Street at the Pizza Ranch, owned by Edgerton residents Craig and Connie Vreeman.

Fire Chief Dave Kooiman said flames were already visible from the street when he approached the scene.

“When we got there, we had lots of smoke and some fire started to show through the roof,” Kooiman said. “It spread quickly from there.”

Four other area departments assisted in putting out the fire — Hardwick, Chandler, Woodstock and Jasper.

It was estimated that more than 50 people fought the blaze until about 10 a.m., when the flames were more controlled and firefighters began taking shifts, as they continued to locate and cool hot spots within the building.

According to Kooiman, the cause of the blaze is unknown and currently under investigation.
