Wayne “Skeetes” Peter Albertson, 67, was born on October 22, 1945, in Oakes, ND, the son of Ralph and Jacqueline (Stavely) Albertson. He attended school through the eighth grade. Wayne married Judith Cable. Wayne always had dreams and wishes about his life. He started working at the age of 13 and had various jobs throughout his life. He was a farm hand, welder, well drilling, machine shop, card dealer, car mechanic, truck mechanic, truck driver (off and on from the age of 8), and worked maintenance at Swift. Wayne served in the military during the Vietnam War driving fork lift and a truck driver. When he returned to the states, he began working at the motor pool and became an instructor and was in charge of the motor pool. Wayne enjoyed working on cars and was a handy man, fixing up his first house. He lived in Foreman, ND, Heron Lake, Iona, and in 2001 moved to Reading, moved to Adrian, and then to Worthington in late 2012. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in St. James. He enjoyed spending time with his family, the Lottery, John Wayne, country music, and rock & roll. Wayne died on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Wayne is survived by his children, Wayne “Mike” (Irish) Albertson of Luverne, MN, LaDonna (Salomon) Albertson of Bigelow, MN, and Heath (Virginia) Albertson of Wilmont, MN; grandchildren, Jack, Dalton, Sarah, Daniel, Zachary “Zach”, LaRae, and Ralph; great grandchildren, Gracie and Kira, and two sisters, Mavis “Mazie” Starnes and Connie (Ron) Olsen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; parents; sister, Francis, and brother, Jack “Butch” Albertson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian, MN, with Pastor Kerry Boese officiating. Burial will be in the Summit Lake Township Cemetery.
