Speech team places first in Luverne

WORTHINGTON –– The Worthington High School (WHS) speech team logged a first-place finish out of a field of 16 competing teams last Saturday at the Luverne speech invitational.

WORTHINGTON –– The Worthington High School (WHS) speech team logged a first-place finish out of a field of 16 competing teams last Saturday at the Luverne speech invitational.

Individual placements were as follows: Creative Expression: Jaimi Seesomkram, 2nd place; Cesar Montejo, 3rd place. Discussion: Cheniqua Johnson, 2nd place; Patrick Burns, blue ribbon; Christopher Mayorga, red ribbon. Extemporaneous Reading: Karina Cuate, 1st place; Brianna Kempema, 2nd place. Extemporaneous Speaking: Jennifer Mayorga, 1st place; Kenneth Garcia, 4th place. Humorous: Caleb Dirksen, 1st place; Brandon Stuntebeck, 2nd place; Ivan Parga, red ribbon; Paulina Bouavachith, red ribbon. Informative: Thip Keovilay, blue ribbon. Original Oratory - Andrea Magana, blue ribbon. Serious Drama: Elyzabeth Coriolan, blue ribbon. Serious Prose: Ana Lozano, 1st place; Ariana Lopez, 3rd place. Storytelling: Kaili Burger, 1st place.

The Trojan talkers next take their game to New Ulm on Saturday for their final regular-season competition before the section meet at Mankato West on April 6.
