Ms. Fletcher, you are to be commended for your hard work and kindness. Just one thing to those interested in adoption: be careful, especially when it comes to the kids of drug addicts and alcoholics. My sister and her husband adoped three children who were labeled "medically fragile" and have learned since that they were ill prepared for what that really meant. By doing what they thought was a good thing for those kids and their own family (they had 2 healthy kids of their own) they ended up with a situation that sometimes is almost impossible to handle. They have two (of 3) adopted children who were born addicted to heroine and alcohol. While I strongly encourage folks to adopt, I just want to warn potential parents that they need to be made completely aware of what they're getting into. Ask questions, study hard and inform yourself before making that final decision and then, if you think you can do it, go for it!
