mainly I have a comment for Pat E of worthington..Its not just a game.By the time highschool hits the MAJORITY of the kids are their to win, and while they are there to win they are learning more than you can ever imagine. I learned more about myself in the four years of highschool sports than I did in the five years I spent in college. I did this because I had talented and passionate coaches. Chances are, the more a coach wants to win the more the players will enjoy the season and like the coach. One who is just out their for fun or monetary incentive might be wasting a lot of kids' time. remember im not talking about youth sports. And as for the incident, im glad they are not gonna let one small bad thing get in the way of all the good things the wackers have done and will continue to do for their community. I couldnt have hated the wackers more when I was playing against them but after the game they have never had a negative thing to say. In fact they were always looking for ways to help me. Competing can be ugly but it should stay on the field. I'm pretty sure a lot of people wanted to throw at me in hs becuase we hated eachother. Now I'm probably friends with that same person.

Why would any coach allow his kids to be drag bunting ahead by 9 runs? It's the same as throwing the football in the last minute up by 35 points.

anybody who knows anything about sports, especially baseball, knows that there is a culture within the game. things get handled in a certain way. deal with it. even if the kid got hit, he has a bruise for a few days. boo

Now, I'm not a baseball player or ever was one, but from the information I have seen in the articles, this is a case of one coach thinking that the opposing coach was running up a score. I have played many sports, and coached a few, when a game is in hand the sub's are put in. ( I should know cause I was a sub). I also agree that, in my opinion, that if the kids have been playing ball for years, that they had an idea of what was happening. People do get caught up in games, ( me especially), but I think evryone has their own opinion, and this is over now. The JCC coaches will be reprimanded by their school and enough said.

High school athletes are, like most young adults, going to follow the direction of their role models. This being said coaches have a great responsibility to maintain respect for all those involved. If Wacker believes that his team was insulted or disrespected by, being beaten soundly by Worthington, he should consider additional preparation for the next game against them. There are worst things than being thrown at during a game, like say, an angry parent, of a deliberately injured high school player, who goes into the dugout and handles things with a poor coach, “man to man”. If one of my sons were to be deliberately injured by Wacky Wacker’s antics you can count on more than one person going to the doctor.
