The only thing Wacker and Jackson are sorry for is that they got caught doing something childish and stupid at a high school game.

First thing first, the Wacker family has a strong passion for athletic competition - and individiuals should not hold that against them. The baseball incident in discussion occurs more frequently than one may expect in the game of baseball. The idea is not to hurt the batter by hitting them - no player is ever directed to throw up and in (the head); however, there is nothing wrong with a pitcher hitting a batter in the mid-to-lower region of the body. Thus, baseball has a rule for this incident - awarding the batter first base. Pitchers may hit a batter for different reasons: 1) to back the hitter off the plate (crowding the plate) or 2) to retaliate for actions deemed unsportsmanlike to the other team. Knowledgable baseball people (coaches, players, parents, and fans) know that this type of action occurs in the game of baseball. I guess the next time a defensive football coach informs his defensive to tackle the opposing running back all the way to the ground OR a basketball player committs a hard personal foul on the shooter OR a volleyball player spikes the ball at the opposing blocker too hard OR a dominate wrestler manhandles his opponent in an aggressive manner - we are going to question the coaches? I understand the message that Wade Wacker was sending to his players, I believe the players understood the message even before Wade said anything. Do I like that hitting a batter occurs, no. But, I understand its part of the game and that will occur (either on accident or intentionally).

I agree with Jacob and Corey,,,,,,,,15 years ago, this was nothing.....and when it comes to baseball, you don't even have to be up by 9,I hit a homerun and a couple triples in a game......guess what happened next time I was up....high inside pitch by the ear, then behind me,and then BAM right in the elbow and ribs....guess who we were playing? WORTHINGTON!!!......I didn't take it personal, its BASEBALL....and I took my base, and at the end of the game, you shake hands and say good game.....

It’s unfortunate that gifted athleticism and coaching ability is accompanied by such a routine display of poor sportsmanship. Many of us have observed similar incidents, first hand, throughout the years during school and amateur athletic activities. Anything other than being a positive presence to high school athletes is unacceptable and shouldn’t be tolerated. This is not an isolated incident.

I don't know this guy from Adam. I do know baseball however. Dropping one down in the 9th with a big lead is a good way to get your next batter some chin music. Apparently even the ump knew it was coming.

The Wackers have always been a bunch of cry babies. I hope he is suspended and fired after further review.

"This is our turf, they are disrespecting us"...Are you kidding me! This is the same attitude gang bangers have and it's why people end up getting hurt or worse. “We have a high demand of integrity, class and honor from these kids".....This is how you teach these values? This coach should first apologize to the kids on both teams then go look up the definition of those words he claims he demands from them. The parents standing up for this man in charge of their kids should be ashamed. IT'S ONLY A GAME.

Wackers or Wackoos? Ty was overboard when he was in Worthington and now it appears that Wade is following in his foot steps. This family has always taken sports too seriously and obviously they always will. I have seen Jackson add to big leads but I guess that is okay? I have played against the Wakers; they will try to win at any cost and if they can't win they will do their best to disrespect those they play against. Grow up, life is short, sports are not that important, kids having fun, learning the game and having respect for all involved should be the objectives!

Wow. I remember playing against wade in high school. All of the positive press he brought to Jackson. Was a standup guy. His wife Stacey, I went to high school with her, and she was a sweetheart. So, he made a mistake. Move on. Everything is so magnified today. Twenty years ago, we wouldn't even be talking about it. At least the pitcher threw BEHIND the batter. I used to pitch, I wouldn't have missed.
