There was a spot along that one street I think just south of the highway overpass where you could see the screen just fine. Of course you couldn't hear it. Sometimes my girlfriend [later my wife] and I would park there and watch for awhile. I was really broke in those days, haha. And of course I wasn't always broke and could pay to get in.

Down the road would be more accurate than across the road. There was a drive-in restaurant located across the road, not a drive-in theater.

The Gay Drive-In was not north on 59, it was on the east beltline, just around the bend from the A & W. I think the two big pine trees that were on either side of the screen are still there.
