Get honest First N.: Read again what I wrote..... I AM AN INDEPENDENT and I do have my own insurance that I pay for. I am not expecting you to pay for "my" insurance as you insinuated. I don't reason to why??? All I had to do was read your "so called" facts. Just because you say something doesn't make it so. I have done my own reading and fact checking on both sides of the isle. I HAVE READ THE BILL more than once. I have discussed it and listened to both sides. If the option was in place it very definitely would bring health insurance costs down. Have you checked out the huge sums of money executives working for insurance companies make and the huge so called bonuses they receive? Go check out their profits. Who pays the premiums that pay for their profits? If health insurance premiums were down business would "pay out less" for their packages. It would leave more money for wages or the hiring of employees (more people in the workforce). Talk to manufacturing, ask them where their biggest cost in operation is. Health insurance...... If insurances premiums were down we all would pay less leaving more money in our own pockets. A fact..... a large majority of Americans "are not happy" with what they are paying for their health insurance premium. By your own admittance, a lot of people, "you believe and say ", would leave their health plan to go to the public option because of cost and coverage. So what is it, they are happy with their plan that they have or they are not happy with their plan? You can't have it both ways.

Barb S: What you MUST understand is b.o. et al, their methods and their plans. If you look at their track records, their programs, the people they associate, and surround themselves, with.......do not fall into the trap of believing them! They are of the far left radicals, intent to only look out for themselves and their small inner circle power. THeir ultimate objective is a single payer govt plan that will ration care...we will NOT have the choice of private insurance. Think about it...the govt option will put out a health plan and can do whatever they want. THey can underfund it, by subsizing with our tax $'s. Private insurance, like it or not, needs to operate with some sort of profit, or they fold. Govt can lower the cost as far as they want, under-cutting the private ins companies and ultimately running them out of business. Bingo.......the govt option is all that is left. Instead of destroying the many good concepts of private health insurance and care that goes to 80-90% of Americans who are ok or like their health insurance, for the sake of 10-15 million uninsured, why not work toward reorganizing medicare, medicaid, passing legilation that prevents the exclusion of pre-existing conditions, reducing the massive lawsuit payments (tort reform) and stop full funding of illegals? There is so much that can be done aside from what the Dems are proposing.

Guess who hasn't read the plan, First N.... Apparently you have never lost your insurance or had an illness that stopped you from getting insurance. What is real is you get risk insurance that you can't afford and the coverage is nothing. In this economic time when jobs are being cut there are real people out there that need insurance but can not afford what is offered right now. Children are going without care. I am not proud of this. The elderly and the children need to be taken care of, they are the vulnerable. In many cases, they can't speak for themselves and their care, and insurance companies know that. THEY ARE NEVER HEARD, THEY ARE VOICELESS. So we keep feeding the insurance companies our money and the people who need care and can not speak for themselves go without care. I don't get why people want to keep feeding the insurance giant and not give their people care. You lose your self esteem when you can't take care of yourself and your children. At least with the public option families can get care and medicine to become healthy. Isn't that what we want a healthy country? Not everyone will choose to be on the public plan, but at least it should be available for families that need it. Obama is giving the American people A CHOICE in setting up the public option. You can choose to keep your policies offered by the insurance companies right now if you choose that (the very same insurance companies that are going to double the premium cost in 10 years). Or at least with the public option the American people can have a choice to become healthy. What you don't get is that there is an alarming rate of people that are not getting care and becoming very unhealthy because of what is in place right now. Everyone in this country should be treated with dignity and should be able to receive health care. If we don't offer at least that, the bottom line is that we as a country choose to become unhealthy. Is that our plan?

Chops: there is an option for the "10-15 million (not 45 million) uninsured Americans. Medicade and Medicare. I realize they are a mess, but why not work on them and leave the rest of the 80-85% alone and not srew it up for everyone. I do not understand why you and others feel the govt can do it better, when time after time they just **** it all up. Work on medicare and medicade and then tackle tort reform, the illegal immigration issue and standardize medial and insurance communications. Specifically why do you and others feel this is not a worthy option, before jumping head long into a GOvt option, that many feel is the untlimate b.o. objective.....listen to HIS words, HE has said this over an over again. Why do you really believe there is not a good chance single payer is their target headed? Because he said so?

I have health care. Nobody gave it to me. I worked for it, made the right decisions, and pay for it out my pocket. Kinda crazy what a little hard work and responsible choices will do for ya in this country.

No need to pay double premiums, etc: 1) Tort reform 2) get rid of the illegals 3) standardize communication methods and documents The Kennedy Health Care bill does NONE of these. This pelosi (bs) bill is all about control and has nothing to do with medicine or medical care!

Why are we focusing on payments and costs when we can avoid a lot of the costs by not having a reason to go in the first place? Avoid eating empty carbohydrates, eat fresh and minimally processed. Quit smoking, why would anyone want to start something that most of the people already doing it want to quit? Excercise. Get up off that couch, shut off the blat box and go for a walk, bicycle, lift weights, etc. The biggest enemies of good health are the television and processed foods. Reward those who have good health, give some kind of incentive for lifestyle choices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesnt matter how much money and research you throw at health care, the answer is in prevention, not in treating unnecessary and avoidable illnesses.

No where in this article does it say she actually read the 1000 + page health care reform bill. My guess is she didn't. The only thing I got from this article is that MN has great helath care and coverage. Doctors are going to the big city right out of school but that has always been an issue in rural areas. Can areas be improved? Heck yes, but not when the govt. runs things. Once again the 800 lb gorrilla in the room isn't addressed i.e. drug company and insurance company lobbyists. They give huge $$ to campaigns and expect votes to go their way at bill time. She'll fall right in line and vote how ever obama wants her to just as stewart smalley will. Folks, this is not a represenative govt anymore.....that goes for both sides. cheeky.....you could have asked that question 10 years ago and the answer is the same as it is now....yes because it is a neccesary evil. That's the reason most retired people don't ever really retire. The politicians complain about the insurance premiums while taking huge donations from the same company lobbies. The system is broke and a 1000 page govt run debacle is not the answer. I'm only asking because I don't know....was the public invited to this meeting at the hospital?
