It is sad that the actions of the few will affect the many. When looking at drug task forces and law enforcement as a whole, they do so much good. To have the actions of the few individuals involved making it difficult for the rest is sad. We need the task force to continue their efforts. Our children and our communities need the added enforcement they can give us. In the current economic climate, with so many of the essential services in law enforcement seeing reduced funding from their local entities in addition to funding cuts on the state and local level, we need these groups of individuals that work to better our communities. This is seen all over the state-in Worthington as well as the metro areas and other counties in the state. You read in the daily globe quite often of drug busts by the Buffalo Ridge Drug task force. They are an important and needed asset to your community. The metro gang task force is an example of poor supervision and a lack of ethics on several individuals. The sad part is that so many others are being judged the same as the few bad apples that were on the task force. It is not right, but it is how most people react to a situation like this. I, for one, applaud the guys that put their lives on the line day in and day out and work to make our communities and our lives safer. I know that in the metro area you don't see much open support of law enforcement, nor do I see that in the blogs I read in the daily globe or other newspapers I read online. More citizens need to show their local law enforcement their support.
