You got that right B w. A great example is Al Gore. Let the peasants do without. Al isn't about to do without his extravagant lifestyle.

Maybe the hope and change Obama people should volunteer to have the power cut off at their homes when demand starts to exceed generation capacity. That will really be change they can believe in when they are sitting in their cold dark houses.

These environmentalists don't seem to understand that generation from wind and solar generators need to be backed up by other types of electrical generation. Diesel generators can be put on line very quickly but coal fired steam turbines can not. I'm not sure what kind of contract Worthinton has with their power supplier but in many cases the contracts call for small cities to supply back up power with their stand by diesel generators when there is high peak demand. That alone shows that the power grid for this area is running pretty close to peak generation capacity. 500 megawatts would have been a subtantial amount of dependable generation.

Hopefully the greenies have a good supply of candles and parkas when their homes go dark and cold.

The environmentalists are going to be happy they killed this project right up until the day their homes go dark. Good luck at getting that 30 megawatts of wind generation on the days there is no wind. Most of the country is running very close to the limits of electric generation capacity now. New coal plants will be among the first victims of "Cap and trade". If they don't start building new nuclear generation plants now I think it is very likely there will be rolling blackouts across large areas of the country.
