AMEN, Wes....I rememberf my younger days when trains were such a part of the distribution system. Beside the fuel, just think of all the road construction that is caused by trucks, that could be prevented.

I pretty much agree with the article but the one thing that I think this country did wrong was to abandon so much railroad track. Trains can move freight much more efficiently than trucks. So if 200 truckloads were moving from say Los Angeles to New York on the same day a train could do it using far less fuel than 200 trucks. Of course trucks would still be needed to distribute the goods locally that the train had carried.

Thanks guys! I have two brothers, two brothers-in-law and several other offspring relatives who drive truck. The only negative I have: some of the truckers on the road are NOT very courteous to other drivers. I drive a small car and they scare the bejeezus out of me!
