Our founding fathers never intended for there to be "professional & permanant politicians." They intended for farmers, merchants, bankers, teachers, ministers, whoever, to be voted in by the local citizens and REPRESENT the group in the govt. After a few years, these reps would go back home to their jobs and another farmer, merchant, banker, teacher, minister, whoever, would represent the people. One of the great parts of our founding father's wisdom, was establishing a system where the representitives were just normal ordinary people (no lawyers :). The current system is completely broken. This is one of the things I admired about Sarah Palin. She was not Washington connected, seemed her own person and her lack of "knowledge/experience" in some areas actually made me like her more. YEt, the Liberal and some Republican elite hated her for these same reasons. Were they jealous? Scared? or just plain stupid and poor quality represntitives of "WE" the people? I don't know if she would have made a good VP or Prez, but it is by far better than the present "Dangerous Man In Charge."

Mr. Garber, you are correct. We are stealing their dreams and their opportunities. I hope everyone who reads this article remembers it when they go to the polls next year and again in 2012. I agree with Pat in that we need to get these career opportunists out of our capital and elect people who come from the trenches, folks with common sense and a willingness to do what is best for all Americans, not just themselves. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen because those types of folks don't have the money or power it takes to break the ranks and get elected.

With the job loss due to the public option on the health care bill and the staggering costs to every homeowner and business on the "Cap And Tax" bill coupled with the pork filled bailouts, the future of this countries young people is very dismal.

Politicians today are CAREER politicians and an article from Drudge reports the majority of them serving today are multi-millionairs! The average Joe to them is just a peon and doesn't matter. There is something wrong when hundreds of MILLION$ are spent to smear and win an election. The only power us peons have is to vote them OUT and elect the average Joe and Jill.
