sidewalks are a must because there's a lot of people who walk around the lake at all times all seasons. I think pedestrians are used to not minding the cars around them, if I see a car approaching me i should get as close to the curb as I can. Joggers don't respect that. They can be in the middle of the road and nobody will move. They should remember that streets are for cars and sometimes, like around corners you can't see them till they are too close, also sometimes there are cars coming in both directions and its hard to give pedestrians the room they need to walk. They won't move. Please be aware that while us drivers should watch out for you, the street is the street and that's where cars belong.Take the sidewalk if you can or walk in a line as close to the curb as you can. And for heaven's sake, don't wear dark clothing if you have to walk in the evening!!

Al, any given day you can drive around town and see groups of kids walking in the middle of or on the street...whether there is a sidewalk or not! That being said, we as drivers are still responsible for our driving. We have to to have our head on a swivel.
