Worthington VFW splits at state tourney
PERHAM — Thrust suddenly into a corner, with its back against the wall, the dilemma facing Worthington’s VFW baseball team late Thursday afternoon was simple: win or go home. After suffering a sudden and disheartening 5-4 loss against Grand Rapids in the first round, Post 3958 regrouped and responded just hours later with an 8-3 win over Perham to avoid the nearly five-hour trek back to Worthington and to extend its stay at the state tournament for at least one more day. Worthington will face Maple Grove at 10 a.m. today. With a win, it will play at 7:30 tonight. A loss means elimination.By: Matt Huss, Worthington Daily Globe
