140 take the Polar Bear Plunge

OKOBOJI, Iowa — They shook and shivered, stuttered and stammered as water dripped from their hair and steam rose from their bodies. They were the 140 brave souls who dared to take the plunge — the Polar Bear Plunge, that is — during the 2009 Okoboji Winter Games Saturday afternoon in Okoboji, Iowa.
