Correction More than 700 have died worldwide from the H1 flu and the current pandemic flu strain has resulted in about 100,000 confirmed illnesses, with 40,000 in the United States. Health experts say that many countries only report hospitalized patients. Most flu victims have not been hospitalized and in the United States alone at least 1 million are thought to have had the flu.
