Luverne goes to the dogs for 50th Hot Dog Nite Thursday

More than 15,000 free hot dogs to be served; Wiener Dog races, pageant, art contest and triathlon planned
LUVERNE — Thursday night marks the 50th annual Hot Dog Nite in downtown Luverne, where visitors can dine on free hot dogs and laugh ’til their belly hurts watching those long-bodied, short-legged Dachshunds compete in the Wiener Dog Beauty Pageant and Wiener Dog Races.
